Item Description

Dominique Geulin, owner of St. Honoré Bakery and master baker, will lead a baking class for 8 on June 21 at St. Honoré's Division Street bakery. The class will focus on "Fresh Fruit Desserts."

Learn how to utilize fresh summer fruit to make some beautiful and simple desserts. This 3-hour class will cover the basics of how to make and work with tart dough. Each student will learn how to make their own tart shell and pastry cream filling to create a beautiful fresh fruit tart to take home with them. You will also be able to watch a demonstration on how to make a baked fruit and almond tart and a fresh fruit clafouti.

The class will be taught by Dominique Geulin, MOF, and Production Manager Emma Nowell, a seasoned Le Cordon Bleu instructor. A welcome drink, snacks, and tasting samples will be served during the class, and each student will take home a fruit tart. Please bring your own aprons. Students will be standing, cooking and working for most of the class. Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back.

Dominique Geulin is a second generation baker, growing up over his father's bakery in Normandy. After years of training, he participated in France's most prestigious competition Meilleur Ouvrier de France that honors the country's best artisan craftspeople and promotes France's tradition of knowledge and artistry. In April 2016, the French National Minister of Agriculture awarded him the status of Chevalier (Knight) in the Order of Mérite Agricole.

The class will be held Thursday, June 21, from 5-8pm at St. Honore Boulangerie, 3333 SE Division St. Portland, OR 97202.
