Item Description
"There are two main types of professional photography. The first is a visual recording such as used by news photographers. This type of photography can be powerful and has resulted in political change. The skill involved relies mostly on risk taking, timing and editing. The second aspect is fine art photography. The best examples of fine art photography are not taken; they are made. Even landscape photographers will manipulate the image to convey to the viewer the emotional response that made them record the scene.
I've been involved in photography since the early 1970's. I built my own color and black & white darkroom in order to have full control over the entire photographic process. When digital came along in the 1990's I fully embraced it as a major game changer in the future of photography. There were a lot of naysayers at that time. And there will be more naysayers as the photographic process progresses in the future. Changes in the world of art have often been met with negativism but they have always led to a progression and democratization of the arts and that is a good thing."
