This private tour is for up to 20 people.

With roots that span generations, Hermitage is a world-class equine operation tied to Oldham County’s rich farming industry. Purchased in the 1800s as part of a land grant, Hermitage has been a working farm for nearly two centuries. Today, broodmares, foals, and yearlings graze the land that has long been recognized as some of the most fertile and productive in Kentucky. Past thoroughbred residents at Hermitage include Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, and Breeders’ Cup winners, as well as more than 200 stakes winners The farm’s legacy stands as a tribute to the land, the horses, and the people who are Hermitage.

The tour will begin at the Main Office and will immediately depart to the Stud Barn, which now houses our Champion driving horses. Guests are encouraged to explore the carriages and other offerings in the Stud Barn. Following this introduction, the tour will make its way through two of our barns, housing this year’s newest foal crop. Depending on the time of year, tours may also include a display of our sale yearlings to be offered at public auction. At each stop, our guide will explain what we look for when breeding and raising our foals. Open communication and questions are welcomed!

Item Special Note

Private Thoroughbred tour for up to 20 guests between March and November 2018. We do our best to let fans see our current champions, however no guarantees can be made for any particular tour. Showings are pending the health and welfare of our animals. For the same reason, feeding or petting is not allowed and pets are not allowed on property.

Tours are rain or shine, so please dress for the weather (no umbrellas please!). In cases of severe weather, tours may need to be rescheduled.

Contact Hermitage in advance to confirm availability and schedule your tour. Tours are not available Derby week or weekend, Breeder’s Cup week or weekend, or during Thanksgiving. Other blackout dates may apply.

A certificate with contact instructions will be mailed to the winner. Please allow two to three weeks for delivery.

Gift Certificates are non-transferable, not for resale, and can only be used by the person named on the certificate. Gift certificate must be used before expiration date printed on the certificate. Only original Gift Certificates are valid, no copies are accepted. You must bring the original gift certificate with you when redeeming the item/service.
