Item Description
Scott Fly Rods - The Ultimate Fishing Tools-Handcrafted from start to finish in Montrose, Colorado.
This phenomenal 7-foot 3 wt fly rod from Scott is perfect for small stream angling.
The Scott Fly Rod Company started in a basement on Cook Street in San Francisco back in 1974 when Harry Wilson followed his dream of building a better fly rod. Within two years, Scott introduced the world to the 9 foot 4 weight graphite rod. Believe it or not, people said we were crazy, but today it's a standard in everybody's line up.
Other innovations followed, like the first 5 piece rods, trout spey rods, and performance enhancing graphite applications like Heli-Ply and ARC unidirectional carbon reinforcement. Today some of the other guys are applying these hoop reinforcing design principles - over ten years after we introduced them.
Tech is a big part of the evolution of fly rods, but notice we said part. At our company, craft and the camaraderie in building great fly rods (and fishing the heck out of them) are just as important.
We still make each of our fly rods one at a time by hand in our shop in Montrose, Colorado. Sure, it's bigger than Harry's basement, but the methods and principles he taught us are still in use today.
