Item Description
Spend a day downtown and experience the first "skyscraper" as well as a museum dedicated to the buildings that grace our city.
You get a Family Pass to admit up to 5 people to the Skyscraper Museum in Battery Park City. The Skyscraper Museum's core exhibits trace the history of high-rise construction with models, videos, and infographics. Displays include a 40-foot long mural on the History of Height from the pyramids to the present, highlighting themes and buildings that relate to the evolution of the skyscraper and point the way to 21st-century supertalls. A special section devoted to the World Trade Center examines its creation as an urban renewal project in the 1960s and documents the rebuilding after 9/11.
Skyscraper Museum is at 39 Battery Place. The Museum shares a building with the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park City, at the southwestern tip of Manhattan.
You also get a pair of tickets for a 60-minute group tour of the magnificent Woolworth Building Lobby. The Woolworth Building, which towers 60 stories and 792 feet above Broadway in downtown Manhattan, was the tallest building in the world when it was completed in 1913. Financed in cash by the five-and-dime millionaire Frank W. Woolworth and designed by architect Cass Gilbert, the building won widespread acclaim for its pioneering steel-frame structure and stunning interior and exterior appearance.
