Item Description

Private tour of the Mallin Collection and Buckhorn Sculpture Park in Pound
Ridge, NY. Each lot winner can bring up to 5 guests. Event scheduled for Saturday September 15, tour 2:30-5:30pm. Wine and Cheese to follow.

Nestled on 15 acres in the scenic town of Pound Ridge, New York, Buckhorn Sculpture Park features gardens, woodlands, a lake and an orchard. Buckhorn is the private home of Sherry & Joel Mallin, world-renowned collectors of contemporary art.

As you walk the lovely grounds, discover almost sixty outdoor sculptures, each discreetly and creatively placed to be viewed as individual works of art in extraordinary settings. Some of the artists featured include Richard Serra, Sol LeWit, Joel Shapiro, Andy Goldsworthy, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Anish Kapoor, Olafur Eliason and Dan Graham. The collection also features pieces by young sculptors whose work may be showcased for the first time.

In 2001, a 10,000 square foot facility known as the Art Barn was completed. The building highlights an ever-changing collection of installations, paintings, photography, videos and sculptures. Works by masters such as Chuck Close are showcased alongside works by mid-career artists (such as Robert Gober) and young, emerging talent.

The Mallins welcome visitors and always docent the collection personally, a treasure in itself. In the sharing of their relationships with both the artists and the works of art, they believe they add a unique and personal dimension to the subject of collecting art.

Sherry & Joel Mallin have been featured in the ARTnews 200 annual list of the world's top art collectors (summer 2003 to 2014 issues).
