The coffee shop Extraction Lab in Industry City, Brooklyn is serving what is now called "The most expensive cup of coffee in the USA" which costs . The shop’s specially designed Steampunk coffee and tea maker, which is created by Alpha Dominche, brews the coffee in a sequence of glass chambers leading to a beer-style tap; a cross between a French press and a draft beer tap operated by an iPad app and designed to combine all the elements of drip, French press, and espresso brewing. It can control temperatures, the amount of water added, and brew time. The result: An exclusive cup of coffee, priced at $18 a cup. A true luxury product!

The primary reason for the price of this luxury product is the coffee from Ninety Plus Gesha Estates, Jose Alfredo Makers Series which undergoes an extensive, labor-intensive sourcing and roasting process: Coffee cherries are handpicked on the Panamanian farm according to ripeness before undergoing a delicate roasting process. The winner will get a chance to taste the limited batch #203 of the José Alfredo Gesha Series.

Ninety Plus Gesha Estates
José Alfredo is the General Manager of Ninety Plus Gesha Estates in Panama, and in 2016, his tiny 3 kilogram experimental lot was sent as a surprise to Ninety Plus Founder and Steward of Taste, Joseph Brodsky. Joseph was floored by the completely new flavor of this wild, industry norm shattering process. He encouraged José Alfredo to produce a series of these coffees at a slightly larger scale in 2017. The results represent Ninety Plus’ largest flavor innovation of the year. There are no coffees like this in the world outside of this series. Lot 203 has the intense white peach, cola, and deep citrus - in this case like the sweetest of oranges - of the José Alfredo Gesha Series. What distinguishes it further is syrupy mouthfeel and deep chocolate liquor flavor. A great mixer coffee with good spirits, Lot 203 is also an exquisite after dinner coffee served straight or one to serve at a celebration after dark.
