Item Description
Bon Voyage!
Spend one week in Duras, France; a small provincial town outside of Bordeaux and Toulouse in Southwest region of the country.
The Clocktower Cottage has been standing alongside the historic clock tower of Duras since the 13th century, but is fully equipped for modern living with wi-fi, a dishwasher and washing machine. Its thick stone walls, heavy beamed ceilings and ancient curved staircase are a constant reminder of the history of the region, while providing a comfortable base to explore the vineyards, chateaux, UNESCO World heritage sites, caves and numerous attractions of the Lot-et-Garonne, Dordogne and Gironde departments of Aquitaine in Southwest France.
The cottage has an ample kitchen with dining area, an L-shaped living room with a reading nook, and a small balcony with a bistro set for two. Off the kitchen is a utility room with a half bathroom. On the second floor is a large master bedroom suite with walk-in shower, and there is a sunny, smaller bedroom, which is perfect for a guest or to be used as an office. During the day the clock does chime the hour, but it’s blissfully quiet at night.
Summary: Master bedroom suite, smaller bedroom/office, full bathroom with shower, half bath, eat-in kitchen, living room, balcony.
Amenities in the village of Duras:
Five walkable restaurants, cafés and wine bars, two banks with ATMs, two bakeries, wine shop, pharmacy, butcher shop, news agent, florist, bike rental shop, optician, small grocery shop, tea room, shoe store, church, post office, historical sites. Just outside the village is a Carrefour supermarket and gas station.
