Item Description
Accessorize with an exquisite token of luck with this vintage horseshoe necklace. This unique piece was designed and handcrafted by Annie Higgins, founder and designer of Anabel Higgins Jewelry. Annie’s aesthetic formed as a juxtaposition of equestrian style, English Regency, fine craftsmanship and glamorous practicality. The pieces she designs are for sophisticated women who have an appreciation for art and something reminiscent of the past, but who also want to invest in modern heirlooms. Her jewelry is fabricated in Los Angeles; each piece handcrafted in 18K Gold and/or Fine Silver (999). This vintage horseshoe necklace features an etched sterling silver oval link chain and sterling silver horseshoe setting. Reminiscent of jewelry from the Victorian Era, this eye-catching piece was artfully crafted as a paste necklace, where she utilized heavy, very transparent flint glass to simulate the fire and brilliance of diamonds and sapphire in the horseshoe setting. Paste jewelry was quite common during the Victorian Era and was part of a refined lady’s evening jewelry sets, though it is rare to find today. This remarkable piece speaks volumes of Annie’s jewelry-making skills, as creating paste jewelry requires a high level of artistry and craftsmanship.
