Item Description
Weaving on a full-size loom in the Tenth grade offers the student a fundamental and practical experience in logic. Weaving combines hand work with the technology of the loom. Students learn the full spectrum of steps from designing with color and pattern; calculating threads per inch; winding a warp; threading and setting up the loom for weaving to finally weaving their scarf. This simple, yet complex act of making cloth triggers their cultural memory and compliments their studies of ancient civilizations. This year's Tenth graders, under the leadership of Handwork teacher, Lisa Wilde, worked together to design and weave this beautiful scarf as a gift to our Farm to Feast auction. The scarf is woven from Chenile which is a natural fiber. The color selection is unisex and perfect for keeping you warm and fashionable.
