Ted and Esthelle Jablonsky
Oil on Vellum
12” x 12”
While a student at the Overseas School of Rome, Colin Callahan used drawing and painting as a means of visual note taking in art history classes. Gradually his focus in art shifted from the historical to the applied.
Callahan has taken classes at various institutes over the years, but his most significant education has come from working under experienced painters. In 1983 he concentrated his studio work at Holy Cross with Michael Tang. In 1989 he began oil painting under the guidance of his mentor and friend Mr. Thomas Buechner. Callahan travels quite frequently, painting in Europe and the US. While on sabbatical in France (1998-1999), he spent the year painting landscape and still life in Provence.
In June 1976, Callahan graduated The Overseas School of Rome and studied painting at Centro Barbieri, Rome, Italy in 1978/79. In1980, Callahan graduated with a BA/Art History, College of the Holy Cross.
