Item Description
Win "Happy Biker," this stunning transfer print by Josh Salzman.
This is a one of a kind photo transfer onto salvaged wood. This is part of a series incorporating collage/salvage/multimedia, mixed with photos shot on both
film and digital in Bali, 2014.
Josh uses a unique printing and transfer process, all by hand to give each
piece its own distinct character. All of the materials used in his pieces
are salvaged. Newer materials are aged through a variety of processes
including stripping/distressing/rusting.
About the artist:
At an early age, Josh was at home with either a paint brush or drawing
implement in hand. When he was introduced to still photography in high
school his life was forever changed. He eventually made his way into
filmmaking and fell in love with the documentary form, which paved the way
for his career in celluloid and digital imagery.
While traveling for work or pleasure, Josh is always with camera in hand,
ready fuel his passion for cinematic and documentary imagery. While
accumulating a small library of beautiful photographs, he also developed an
obsession with discovered treasures- aged wood, driftwood, rusty metal and
hardware, beaten up window frames, intriguing odds and ends- you name it.
Inspired by the cultures and landscapes he experiences, he returns to his
garage studio at home, and gets busy blending the objects and imagery to
create a unique beautiful handmade fusion in every piece.
In Josh's family, photography is a shared (and sometimes contentious)
experience. His wife Julie, also a talented photographer, and their son
Miles, a budding photographer and artist in his own right, have been known
to argue over who gets the best angle for a given shot.
