Lise Lemeland has exhibited nationally and internationally, and her work is in the collection of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. Her work reflects her personal translation of the physiological experience of aerobatic flying. “As an artist and a pilot, what draws me to aerobatics is the hyper-stimulation of both the visual and vestibular senses.”
Waco Banquet was inspired by antique decorative porcelain, and portraiture. It represents a celebration of a unique and classic vintage biplane, the Waco UPF-7, the artist’s personal favorite aerobatic aircraft.
Lemeland received her BA from Stanford University, her BFA and MFA degrees in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute and Hunter College in New York.
