Item Description
Designed by: Vico Magistretti
Manufactured by: Oluce
The Atollo lamp has become one of the best known symbols of 20th century Italian design. Atollo features a cylindrical base with a conical top akin to the shape of a sharpened pencil – its large hemispherical diffuser appears to impossibly rest upon an imagined point of this cone. This “tip” doesn’t exist but like a sharpened pencil, the viewer imagines one to be there. This engaging illusion of visual precariousness is part of the profound sense of wonder that Atollo engenders. Designed in 1977.
