Item Description
Vintage photogravure portrait of celebrated stage actresses Ada Rehan and Virginia Dreher performing as Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Page, respectively, in the Augustin Daly Company’s early 1880s production of Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor at the Broadway Theatre.
One of a series of limited subscription portraits printed during the 1870s and 1880s. Formerly in the possession of Maude Adams, an actress who gained fame in the early 20th century playing Peter Pan.
Created by the Gebbie & Husson Co. of Philadelphia, the portrait was printed on thick paper in 1988; roughly 11 inches by 17 inches.
Handwritten inscription on back: “Best wishes on your opening night, Bob Horan."
