Item Description
These 17 campaign buttons predate Ronald Reagan's successful run for President in 1980.
Reagan served as Governor of Califonia from 1967 to 1975. A popular Hollywood actor prior to entering politics, he served as President of the Screen Actors Guild. He was a Democrat until 1962 but later gained notoriety as a new conservative spokesman.
In 1968 and 1976, Reagan ran as a hopeful Republican nominee for President, but lost the 1968 nomination to Richard Nixon and the 1976 nomination to Gerald Ford. In 1980 as the Republican Nominee, he defeated incumbent Jimmy Carter and became the 40th President of the United States.
Two of the most valuable buttons in this collection are the "Shoot Out at Kansas City" button and the dark blue "Ron Turns Me On" button.
