About

My work and the work of generations of textile artists who preceded me in my family describe my story.  We are all connected by the thread. I was taught by the people who preceded me to love textiles.  It began with a needle and thread and evolved through the years to include an emphasis always on hand work.  My textile work describes my story visually, my poetry and other writings in words.  To me it is all one.  Poetry is created using one line created with a pen as it bends that line on the page to form words that touch the heart and spirit.  Textiles are created with one thread woven, colored, painted, shaped and sent into the world to touch the senses and spirit. A visual poem or story.

I have had studios in the Los Angeles area, Taos New Mexico, Kailua Kona Hawaii and Carlsbad California. I have lived in many places within the United States and abroad.  My work includes the sensibilities of  diverse  places and cultures.

Most of my hand dyeing is done in silk, cotton, or wool and different combinations of these fibers.  I create Shibori pieces in natural indigo or delicate French dyes.  I often employ ombre techniques.  I use woodblocks I designed myself or seashells as stamps to create images.  Swarovski crystals are sometimes used as embellishment.
