Item Description
Title & Artist: “Envious” - by Ellen Garvey
Medium & Size: Blown and Fused Glass; 19" x 8"
Artist Statement: My typical medium is blown glass. But when invited to do a cod in 2017 I needed to move to a “flat” form. So I blow the glass in the desired colors, saw it apart, slump it, cut it, and fuse it into the shape of the cod. Ah, glass. You have me in your grip.
Artist Biography: I have been blowing glass for several years. I signed up for a glassblowing class as a way to escape from my stressful and demanding career in high tech. It wasn't long before I was hooked. It's hot, dirty, expensive, and demanding—perfect! I am a juried Artist Member of both the Marblehead Arts Association and Gallery 53 on Rocky Neck (of the Rocky Neck Art Colony) in Gloucester, MA; a three-term board member of the Marblehead Festival of Arts; and a finance committee member and past board member of the Salem Arts Association.
Value: $450
Hosting Business: “Envious” is on display at LizzyLoo & Friends, 108 Washington St., Marblehead, MA.
