Title & Artist: “Keeper” - by Martha Quigley

Artist Statement: “Whether working in oils with their unmatched luminosity, or with the immediacy and transparency of watercolor, I love exploring color, light and shadow within the context of repetitive or iconic shapes. And by layering transparent oils over a warm-tinted underpainting, I have been able to bring a great deal of warmth to what has traditionally been my very cool palette.

Working during the winter months in Florida since 2007 has opened up a whole new world of subject matter and color for me. I find beauty in all the usual places but strive to bring my own techniques and emotion to my work in an effort to uniquely portray iconic imagery.

I have been painting my entire life and know that I am very fortunate to be able
to do something I love and make a living. I began private art instruction at age 12, graduating Massachusetts College of Art with a BFA in Art Education and minor in drawing. I am a life-long sailor with a U.S. Sailing Medal for the Adams Cup in 1995.

My business, Landfall Gallery, is a virtual gallery which allows me to combine my two passions of art and the ocean while travelling to wonderful coastal venues - bringing my work to fellow ocean lovers up and down the east coast!”

Artist Biography: Marblehead Artist, Martha Quigley, makes her living from the sea, finding inspiration in the colors of the ocean, sailing, shells, sea life and all things nautical.

Pick-up of purchased cods will be on Thursday evening, July 5. Winning bidder will receive a notification email with information on pick-up time and location.

If winning bidder requires shipping, winner's credit card will be charged a separate $24.95 fee to cover USPS ground and handling. Shipping is available within the U.S. only and must be requested within 7 days after receipt of the notification email.

Any cod purchased via "Buy Now" will remain on display at the hosting business through the end of the auction, and will be available for pick-up as detailed in the winning bidder notification email.

If winning bidder has not picked up cod (or provided shipping address) within 30 days after the close of the auction, cod will become the property of Marblehead Festival of Arts, Inc.
