Artist Statement: Do My Eyes Deceive Me? is an amusing piece that celebrates the playful nature of fine art. The materials, fine yarn, connect to the home, comfort, and familiarity, all of which are values noted throughout the Marblehead community. Using bright colors, this piece is sure to spark conversation and have people get up and walk around.
Artist Biography: Emma Oliver is a Marblehead native, recently graduating from Alfred University’s school of art and design with her BFA. She concentrates in fiber art, specifically knit and crochet and a special strength in illusion knitting: a difficult technique that produces optical illusions through fiber. With her completed degree, she hopes to continue her art career, experience many art residencies and teach.
