Item Description
Two Passes to Tour Chesterwood.
4 Williamsville Rd
Stockbridge, MA
Located on 122 idyllic acres in the hamlet of Glendale, Chesterwood is the summer home, studio and gardens of America's foremost public sculptor, Daniel Chester French (1850-1931). Since 1978, the work of close to 600 emerging and established sculptors have been exhibited at Chesterwood in the annual Contemporary Sculpture at Chesterwood exhibition. Open daily from May 27 to October 9, 2017, Chesterwood opens a new gallery (funded by a generous grant from the Henry Luce Foundation) in July showcasing 150+ never-before-exhibited objects from its collection, helping illuminate the development of French’s work over time and provide a window into the artist’s working methods, techniques, and creative processes. In addition to these exhibitions, visitors may enjoy lectures, classes, woodland walks, family picnics and other events throughout the season. Chesterwood is also a beautiful and memorable backdrop for a wedding or special event. A National Trust Historic Site.
