Item Description
Title & Artist: “Rounding the Mark” - by Lisa Richardson-Bach
Medium & Size: Kiln formed glass; 19" x 8"
Artist Statement: I have always lived near the sea, surrounded by waves. They inspire me and my art with their majesty. Waves are a call to be beautiful yet strong, gentle yet powerful. Whether my art is ocean related or not, there is always the feel of the wave in the lines and the color blend. The ocean will always be in my blood, and the inspiration of an ocean wave will always be in my artwork.
Artist Biography: Lisa Richardson-Bach has been a glass artist for over 30 years. She is best known for her kiln-form techniques that she uses to create unique and spectacular fused panels and sculptures. She is also well versed in the copper foil techniques pioneered by John La Farge and Louis C. Tiffany, as well as traditional lead came work of medieval times. Ms. Richardson-Bach has studied under many of the masters of glass in such diverse areas as traditional stained glass, stained glass restoration, sandblast etching and carving, glass fusing and forming, painting on glass, and hot glass lampworking. She has been teaching glass techniques throughout the country and is a top-rated instructor. Ms. Richardson-Bach creatively combines her knowledge and mastery of multiple glassworking techniques into unique and fascinating classes.
As a native of New England, Ms. Richardson-Bach has spent most of her life on or near the ocean. Her love of the sea is evident in much of her work, whether it is her prolific use of nautical motifs, an accent of sea glass in many of her pieces, or just the smooth flowing lines of her designs, reminiscent of the gentle sway of the ocean. Ms. Richardson-Bach's work is displayed throughout New England and the Northeast. Her masterpieces adorn homes across the nation as well as in Europe. Ms. Richardson-Bach is the owner of Seaside Renaissance Works.
