Item Description

Meet Explorer Nancy McGee for lunch or dinner in Dallas, Texas

Explorer and filmmaker Nancy McGee lives a life of adventure and diversity.

Known as Ms. Exosuit, AKA the Pachyderm Princess, she is the first female Exosuit pilot as well as a magazine centerfold (next to a 3000 lb. swimming elephant).

The Explorers Club recognized her with a Fellowship for her explorations, which include filming in locations so remote that local natives have never before seen Western people. Explorers Club Fellowship is the highest tier attainable by explorers and reserved for those who have distinguished themselves by directly contributing to scientific knowledge in the field of geographical exploration or allied sciences. Such accomplishments usually are evidenced by scientific publications documenting fieldwork or exploration.  Nancy’s expeditions have opened several new regions to responsible eco-tourism, including the Andaman Islands (India) and the Forgotten Islands (Indonesia).

She has dived six of the seven continents, missing only Europe, in a marine career spanning almost 40 years. Nancy produces, edits and films her own documentaries with a focus on conservation, education in addition to a unique historical spin on culture and the marine ecosystem.

Her credits include NBC, Universal Studios and Discovery. She is a frequent contributor to dive journals and is a featured speaker and emcee for national and international shows, film festivals and schools. Nancy is a member of the Ocean Artists Society, Platinum Pro 5000, and was inducted into the Women Divers Hall of Fame. Recently, she trained in a state-of-the-art atmospheric diving suit, the Exosuit, akin to a wearable submarine.

Nancy has achieved these many goals while working full time in public education, personally touching the lives of thousands of children. She currently serves as the K-12 Director of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) for the Grand Prairie Independent School District.

Nancy, a PADI master instructor, has trained nearly 1000 divers and has introduced many of them to other areas of the world. She has dived with many species of shark, including one of the world’s largest tiger sharks — and has even dived with an elephant!

Nancy tirelessly promotes the dive industry, the ecology of the sea, and the Shark Research Institute. She accomplishes this by speaking, producing and showing films to schools, clubs, and community service groups, and as a featured speaker and emcee for national and international dive shows and film festivals. Nancy conducts group tours and films in many of the world’s most exotic dive locations, some so remote the local natives have never before seen Western people.  She has filmed for NBC and Discovery, and written for a variety of dive journals and publications. She is a member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame.

Item Special Note

The objective of this auction is to spotlight individuals and organizations working effectively for ocean conservation, and raise funds for field research, conservation and outreach projects.

Being auctioned is a dinner or lunch with one of the world's foremost shark experts or celebrities. This is a unique opportunity to "talk shark" face-to-face, one-on-one, with a real authority on sharks.

How this auction works

1. Bid on a celebrity you would like to get to know personally (shark scientist, educator, explorer filmmaker, shark photographer, television host, conservationist) who works or lives nearby, unless you are willing to drive or fly to meet them in their area.

2. We will introduce the winning bidder to the celebrity. The two of you then set a mutually agreeable date, time and place to meet within one year of the close of the auction.

3. The winning bidder pays for lunch or dinner and may bring guests.

NOTE: The winning bid is 100% deductible from US Federal 2018 income taxes as a Charitable Donation. A tax receipt will be issued to the winning bidder.
