Classes offered: 

* INFERNO HOT PILATES is a training system which combines Pilates principles with a High Intensity Interval Training and is performed in a heated room.  It creates long, lean muscle mass, burns fat, and increases fitness. It creates a stronger core, improves circulation, and increases flexibility. It is performed on a yoga mat and is a non-impact workout.

* BIKRAM YOGA is a system of Hatha Yoga done in a heated room. The heat allows for increased flexibility so that the change you want can happen more efficiently. With the heat you can also achieve a deeper stretch, so fresh oxygenated blood reaches deeper into your muscles, tendons and organs to keep your systems healthy. 

* YIN YOGA is a slower paced style of Hatha Yoga where the postures are held longer and the spine is supported with the use of props. It allows a deep stretch for the fascia, tendons and ligaments so that circulation is increased to the joints.

Barefoot Movement is a ‘neighborhood yoga studio’ in the truest sense of the term. The light-filled urban nest perched three floors up at 17th & Broadway was founded by Leah Gillman in 2010. Leah has been teaching yoga consistently in Downtown Oakland since 1999 including 12 years at the Downtown Oakland YMCA. At The Y she gained a deep appreciation for the beautifully varied personality of ‘local Oakland’. She opened the Barefoot Movement studio, with ‘local Oakland’ in mind and in heart.
