Item Description
From Lin Evola’s collection, this particular piece is one of the Leonardo’s Flowers Series. When the French army poured into northern Italy in 1599 his patron Lodovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, requisitioned the bronze set aside for Leonardo’s statue to make cannons.
As the founder of the Peace Angels Project, and more importantly as an artist, Lin wanted to create a series of flowers that include contemporary weapons, in this case, decommissioned nuclear stainless steel crushed, mixed in with the ink, to paint flowers dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, her artistic ancestor. The entire Peace Angels Project takes contemporary weapons and transforms them into the art of our time.
