Item Description

From Lin Evola’s collection, this particular piece is one of the Leonardo’s Flowers Series.  When the French army poured into northern Italy in 1599 his patron Lodovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, requisitioned the bronze set aside for Leonardo’s statue to make cannons.

As the founder of the Peace Angels Project, and more importantly as an artist, Lin wanted to create a series of flowers that include contemporary weapons, in this case, decommissioned nuclear stainless steel crushed, mixed in with the ink, to paint flowers dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, her artistic ancestor.  The entire Peace Angels Project takes contemporary weapons and transforms them into the art of our time.

About Lin Evola

In 1992, Lin Evola founded the Peace Angels Project to address the epidemic of violence by reminding us of the responsibilities we all share to create a better world.  As an American contemporary Artist, Evola created the Peace Angels Project as a conceptual work of art to engage thought that is meant to stir us - to awaken us to rise up and build a life-affirming legacy of Peace in our time.  The concept that develops into Peace Angel monuments forwards a legacy of peace to our children and future generations.
