Meet Captain Maureen Langevan, Filmmaker and Shipwreck Diver

Captain Maureen Langevin is a PADI scuba instructor, technical diver, US Coast Guard licensed Captain, Expedition Leader, videographer and film producer.

She is the Founder and Co-Owner of Dive Voyager Expeditions, a company that specializes in scuba instruction and film-making, teaching divers and non-divers about our amazing undersea world. Maureen introduces her students to diving in the northeast USA aboard her dive boat, Voyager.

Her films highlight the exploration, enjoyment and preservation of our living oceans. She shares her passion for the sea through productions such as Diving with Sharks: Cocos Islands and Diving with Sharks in the Northeast focusing on the facts about sharks and why they desperately need our protection.

Maureen’s film series, Our Precious Ocean, is a fun fact-filled series teaching children about sharks, coral reefs, destructive fishing practices, and how plastics and balloons can be harmful to the ocean. Her documentary films capture the history of diving the Northeast: Pioneers and Women of Northeast Wreck Diving, Search for the HMS Sylph which received a Telly Award in 2011, and many more.

As Expedition Leader, Maureen brings the spirit of ocean exploration captured on video to produce exciting documentary films. She led the expedition to recover a 5,000-lb anchor from the wreck of the Stolt Dagali. The artifact was donated to the Museum of NJ Maritime History where it is displayed prominently at the entrance http://www.museumofnjmh.org. The exciting story is captured in her film A Shipwreck's Secret  is available for free view from Snag Films: www.snagfilms.com

Maureen’s work has been featured on television, in magazines and newspaper articles, dive events and film festivals. In 2001, she was also inducted into the Women Divers Hall of Fame in recognition for her outstanding achievements and contributions to diving and marine conservation.

Item Special Note

The objective of this auction is to spotlight individuals and organizations working effectively for ocean conservation, and raise funds for field research, conservation and outreach projects.

Being auctioned is a dinner or lunch with one of the world's foremost shark experts or celebrities. This is a unique opportunity to "talk shark" face-to-face, one-on-one, with a real authority on sharks.

 How this auction works

1. Bid on a celebrity you would like to get to know personally (shark scientist, educator, explorer filmmaker, shark photographer, television host, conservationist) who works or lives nearby, unless you are willing to drive or fly to meet them in their area.

2. We will introduce the winning bidder to the celebrity. The two of you then set a mutually agreeable date, time and place to meet within one year of the close of the auction.

3. The winning bidder pays for lunch or dinner and may bring guests.

NOTE: The winning bid is 100% deductible from US Federal 2018 income taxes as a Charitable Donation. A tax receipt will be issued to the winning bidder.
