Let us introduce you to Cathy Church, one of the world's foremost teachers and authors on underwater photography. Divers come from around the world to study underwater photography with Cathy.

As photo editor for Skin Diver magazine for 15 years, Cathy coauthored hundreds of magazine articles and four books on underwater photo techniques, offered seminars throughout the USA, and week-long photo courses in Grand Cayman.

A versatile photographer, Cathy is an expert in many styles of photography from documentary and editorial to gallery art. She is still developing new twists and turns to her photography, keeping up with developments so that she can teach her students the most up-to-date techniques.

Cathy's clients include Kodak, Nikon, the US Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. Her poster "Wonderland" earned a Certificate of Distinction from Creativity Magazine for best travel poster of the year. For 14 years she produced serious black and white photography limited edition fine art black and white prints.

Cathy's enthusiasm and kindness toward her students have won her accolades from divers around the world. She encourages people through her writing, her seminars and her classes to enjoy the wonders of the undersea environment. Her coffee table book "My Underwater Photo Journey" is a collection of her favorite images.

Like most divers, Cathy is a dedicated environmentalist. She spends long hours every week signing petitions, making donations, writing letters to decision makers and supporting environmental causes in any way she can. She became a vegan to reduce her impact on the over-consumption of ocean seafood.

The objective of this auction is to spotlight individuals and organizations working effectively for ocean conservation, and raise funds for field research, conservation and outreach projects.

Being auctioned is a dinner or lunch with one of the world's foremost shark experts or celebrities. This is a unique opportunity to "talk shark" face-to-face, one-on-one, with a real authority on sharks.

How this auction works

1. Bid on a celebrity you would like to get to know personally (shark scientist, educator, explorer filmmaker, shark photographer, television host, conservationist) who works or lives nearby, unless you are willing to drive or fly to meet them in their area.

2. We will introduce the winning bidder to the celebrity. The two of you then set a mutually agreeable date, time and place to meet within one year of the close of the auction.

3. The winning bidder pays for lunch or dinner and may bring guests.

NOTE: The winning bid is 100% deductible from US Federal 2018 income taxes as a Charitable Donation. A tax receipt will be issued to the winning bidder.
