Item Description

Meet Shark Week's legendary filmmaker Jeff Kurr in Thousand Oaks, California.

Jeff Kurr has made 30 shark related documentaries and been a part of the immensely popular Shark Week event since 1991. He's been the executive producer, director, underwater cinematographer, editor and writer for dozens of shows. He's produced 5 of the top 10 highest rated Shark Week episodes: Tales of The Tiger Shark, Air Jaws: Sharks of South Africa, Ultimate Air Jaws, Great White Invasion, and Shark Attack Files.

On Tuesday, watch his Air Jaws: the Hunted and on Wednesday, see Air Jaws: Back from the Dead. Almost 17 years after Jeff and Chris Fallows documented massive great white sharks leaping from the water to attack their prey, the sharks have been killed or driven off. Jeff and Chris try to find out where the giant sharks have gone.

Jeff has been the executive producer, director, underwater cinematographer, editor and writer for an unprecedented three consecutive Sunday night Shark Week kickoff shows. His Ultimate Air Jaws kicked off Shark Week 2010 and propelled the summertime extravaganza to its highest ratings ever, attracting 30.8 million viewers!

His Great White Invasion kicked things off in 2011, and his Air Jaws Apocalypse was the kickoff show for the 25th Anniversary of Shark Week in 2012. Jeff also co-hosted 2009's "Shark After Dark" and 2012's "Air Jaws Apocalypse",  appeared as a shark expert in 2012's "Shark Week's Impossible Shot" and "Shark Week's 25 Best Bites".

Jeff has "talked sharks" live on the set of the TODAY show, live on set for FOX NEWS, plus GOOD DAY L.A. He's also been featured in TIME Magazine, Wall Street Journal, New York Daily News, NY Post, Entertainment Weekly, Washington Post, Details Magazine, Scientific American, Shark Diver Magazine, Huffington Post and appeared in a Diet Mountain Dew commercial. Jeff was also a contributing writer for Field Guide to the Great White Shark.

Known for innovative filmmaking techniques, Jeff has used night vision, thermal imaging, remote operated submersibles and helicopters, robotic seals, towed underwater cameras, submarines and high-speed cameras to capture unprecedented shark behavior. He was the first to shoot breaching white sharks in super slow motion, earning an EMMY nomination in 2010.

Item Special Note

The objective of this auction is to spotlight individuals and organizations working effectively for ocean conservation, and raise funds for field research, conservation and outreach projects.

Being auctioned is a dinner or lunch with one of the world's foremost shark experts or celebrities. This is a unique opportunity to "talk shark" face-to-face, one-on-one, with a real authority on sharks.

How this auction works

1. Bid on a celebrity you would like to get to know personally (shark scientist, educator, explorer filmmaker, shark photographer, television host, conservationist) who works or lives nearby, unless you are willing to drive or fly to meet them in their area.

2. We will introduce the winning bidder to the celebrity. The two of you then set a mutually agreeable date, time and place to meet within one year of the close of the auction.

3. The winning bidder pays for lunch or dinner and may bring guests.

NOTE: The winning bid is 100% deductible from US Federal 2018 income taxes as a Charitable Donation. A tax receipt will be issued to the winning bidder.
