Item Description

Radio Waves Music Festival is a family-friendly festival hosted by WTIP Community Radio each September. It takes place at Sweetheart's Bluff in the Grand Marais Recreation Area and Campground and offers three days of live music - in a tented outdoor venue - from a diverse mix of local and regional artists and bands.

Publically broadcast your enjoyment of community radio with a WTIP logo tote bag and "Local Legend" hat, and surround yourself with the sounds of the region with Molly Hoffman's Field Notes: Bird Songs of Northern Woods CD - Volume 2 and 3.

WTIP is the first community radio station broadcasting on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Visitors and residents spread out over 1,500 square miles of woods and waters come together through WTIP, a non-profit organization that provides an arena for information-gathering, discussion, and expression.

WTIP was launched by a small group of pioneering volunteers sitting around a kitchen table who believed that local radio in Cook County could play an important role in building a sense of shared community.

Since our inception in April 1998, the need and demand for WTIP's services has grown tremendously. Through community support, involvement and feedback, WTIP has continually strengthened our programming, outreach and response to community needs. The communities we serve rely on us for information, use us as a creative outlet, and respond positively to our outreach efforts. Indeed, WTIP has become an essential and highly valued community resource.
