Item Description

"Looking...throwing in the end zone... Clark caught it!...Dwight Clark! " Such is Vin Scully's Memorable Call of "The Catch," one of the most famous moments in football history. Born in Kinston, North Carolina, Pro Bowl wide receiver Dwight Clark played his college football at Clemson University before being drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 10th round of the 1979 Draft. Clark embarked on a great career with the Niners, finishing with 506 catches, 6750 yards, 48 touchdowns and 2 Super Bowl Rings. But by far Clark's most memorable touchdown and football moment came in the 1982 NFC Playoffs. On January 10, 1982, against the Dallas Cowboys, the San Francisco 49ers were trailing 27-21 in the final minute of play to advance to the Super Bowl. Clark made a leaping catch of a desperation pass from quarterback Joe Montana in the back of the end zone to give the 49ers a 28-27 victory. That great sports moment has been immortalized by the Niner Faithful as "The Catch" and is a big reason Clark's number 87 was retired by the 49ers. And thanks to Sports Gallery's great relationship with Dwight we're able to offer this unique Niner collectible. The 8x10 Color reproduction of a back-of-the-endzone photo Dwight's grab is hand signed by Clark. Then we went to work creating TWO great Display options. For #1, we Quality Framed the photo with black moulding, U-V protective glass, Niners suede matting w/ gold trim, and SGA Exclusive "The Catch" plate with game score, date and location. The second has the same quality framing but includes replica ticket from the game and full plate that includes Vin Scully's famous call of the play. Both are great collectibles and Sports Art from arguably the most famous moment in 49ers football history.
