Item Description
Widely recognized as the Adirondack Hermit, Rondeau lived along the Raquette River for long periods alone.
Also known as the 'Mayor of Cold River City', Noah John Rondeau kept extensive journals written in his own unique letter-substitution cipher system, despite only having an eighth-grade education.
Working as a handyman, caretaker, guide, Noah also gained some of his knowledge of the woods from Dan Emmett, an Abenaki Indian from Canada.
William J. O'Hern's accounting of Noah's life is chronicled in Noah John Rondeau's Adirondack Wilderness Days, copyright 2009.
