Item Description
12 buttons from Jimmy Carter's first and successful Presidential Campaign in 1976 when he ran against incumbent President Gerald Ford. He was the 39th President of the United States. He also served as the Governor of Georgia from 1971-75.
Some of these buttons are becoming scarce. Some show how he was often caricatured as the man with the big smile. The "coming of Carter" picture is iconic after it appeared on the cover of Newsweek in April, 1976. The Bunny/Play Boy buttons refer to an article on Carter that appeared that appeared in the Playboy magazine.
From Gil Gleason's extensive Jimmy Carter collection.
