Melting Pot Food Tours was co-founded by sisters, Lisa and Diane Scalia. Lifelong residents of the Los Angeles area, Diane and Lisa are distinctly qualified to explore, share and celebrate the depth of LA’ s culinary heritage.
Select from three tours: their original Farmers Market Food & History Tour, Old Pasadena Tasting Tour or East LA Latin Flavors Food & Culture Tour.
Explore LA's landmark Original Farmers Market. Artisan butchers, bakers and candymakers, a gourmet grocery emporium with one of L.A.'s finest cheese counters, an international spice merchant, local celebrity chefs, and more.
Guests will be introduced to the Market's fascinating history, hear stories of the legacy families who have been part of this landmark location since its beginnings in 1934, and taste signature items from a variety of Farmers Market stalls. Tour is two and a half hours long.
Colorful alleys and secret thru-ways spice up your walk as you seek out spectacular ethnic eateries and sweet-stuff havens in historic Old Pasadena. Enjoy all the fascinating stories behind the foods when you explore this historic district. Whenever possible, you’ll be met and hosted by the merchants who proudly share their incredible offerings. Tour is three and a half hours.
Most LA visitors miss out on the wonderfully rich culture and street life happening in East LA/Boyle Heights. The exciting East LA Latin Flavors Food & Culture Tour begins with a piece of the finest tres leches cake in all of East LA. Next it's off to discover the most amazing freshly hand-made Tamales. Then head to the bustling Mercadito for more tastings before exploring a real-deal Tortilla factory. You’ll hop on the Metro Gold Line for a short train ride to Mariachi Plaza for a sumptuous lunch concluding with iced Mexican Chocolate and bakery fresh pan dulce. Tour is three and a half hours.
Detailed directions regarding exact meeting place given once reservation is made. Tour group size is limited. Both tickets must be used on same tour. Valid until September 30, 2019.
