11.5" x 9.5" x 1"
This picture arrived from a sketchbook that travelled around New York and Rhode Island. It's an experiment with printing since the artist printed the sketch to be larger. He then drew on top of the picture, with ballpoint pen and India-ink, so he could render everything better. It's based on a dream he had.
Kyle Machado feels that sketchbooks are a place for expressing identity and social commentary. The books allow him to freely work not only in-studio but also outside, on airplanes, beaches and wild train rides. These works were made with ink and in public view. Because his illustrations live in sketchbooks, they have survived the elements and numerous milestones. They are proof of resilience while being inspired by dreams and a bit of humor!
