Item Description
The Pilar Princess Chair
Pilar Gabriela Moller prized comfort above all, but she also loved her bling. Pictured here was her jaw-droppingly GORGEOUS princess dress from last year's Rare Chair Affair.
Diagnosed in 2013, Pilar battled breast cancer via chemo therapy, radiation and a double mastectomy. Despite her health hardships she gave back. If you had the honor of knowing Pilar, you know what I mean. If you didn't, I promise you that you are benefiting from her indelible mark on the world. She volunteered for breast cancer warriors and survivors, donated toward animal welfare causes and brought joy and unending support to her vast network of friends and family. And she was a dedicated, long-time artist of the WBCC's Rare Chair Affair.
The loveseat was offered to Pilar as a possible piece for her to use for this year's Rare Chair Affair. In the hospital before she died, we promised Pilar that there would be a chair in her honor. A princess chair.
* The pounds of purple glitter reflects her amazing purple hair
* The upholstery reflects her skirt
* The furniture tacks reflects her LOVE of bling and all things shiny
* The Chilean Flower is modeled after a tattoo on her shoulder, a way she choose to honor her Chilean heritage
* The alternate sparkly flip-flops for feet reflect her joy at flip-flop weather and love of comfort
* The crown, full of bling, has a tiny chick which represents a tattoo she had on the back of her neck. Her beloved Grandpa Chickering called her "Lil' P"
I hope this chair brings you the same joy it brought us in crafting it. Bid high, it's for the boobs!!!!

About The Artists
FAA (Famous at Alverno) - In 1993, at the Campus Center (now Austin Hall) in the 2 South hallway, FAA was born.
You may at times get together with your college friends and reminisce. We (nearly) never parted each others' sides since graduation. Our network is a unique, beautiful, treasured part of all our lives. And it has grown to include individuals that did not attend Alverno.
This army supported Pilar through diagnosis, treatment, recovery and rediagnosis, death, family support and remembrances in Pilar's honor the way Pilar wanted. We grieve her loss each and every day. We honor her memory. We celebrate the fact that we had this AMAZING princess in our lives and experienced vacations to New Zealand, swimming with dolphins, camping, shenanigans, bar crawling, apple picking, book clubs, cookie decorating, doctor visits, Celine Dion drag queens, grocery shopping, dog sitting her beloved Brewski, spur of the moment "Pancakes!", quilting and just loving the precious time with one another.
Losing Pilar was one of the hardest thing each of us went through. But having Pilar in our lives, however briefly, is one of the most treasured friendships of our lives.
