"The Woodchuck's Guide to Gardening" by Ron Krupp
-
Here is an entertaining, common sense organic gardening book from a master of both gardening and storytelling. The Woodchuck's Guide to Gardening reconnects us to the four gardening cycles of the year â from spade to seed to grain to breadâÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂthrough anecdotes and history, poetry and wit, politics, stories, and lots of down-to-earth organic gardening tips.
This is a gardening book for beginners, as well as for more experienced organic and biodynamic gardeners willing to learn thrift and practicality from the "woodchuck." It tells the story of the author, Ron Krupp's thirty years of garden-based learning. Part gardening primer, part map for your own gardening journey, part guide to the universe.
"The Woodchuck Returns to Gardening" by Ron Krupp
- Just like the first book "The Woodchuck Returns to Gardening" is rooted in organic methods. The book begins by recounting of two dynamic years in the authors gardens at home and the Tommy Thompson Community Garden in the Intervale in Burlington, Vermont. A jester called the "Chuckster" follows Ron around making fun of his gardening adventures and asking questions that allow for the inclusion of helpful insights. The main part of the book travels into the world of vegetables, berries, and fruits. It includes stories, history, observations and information from the "Garden Patch." There are many sketches and black and white photos, but this time, colored paintings and photos are included as well.
