Item Description

I was given the opportunity to be involved in the Rare Chair Event. Nothing in life is more liberating than to fight for a cause larger than yourself, something that encompasses you but is not defined by your existence alone.

At the weekly paint sessions we learned about each other. Some participants are cancer survivors and some like me there to support the survivors. We learned about each other and how some face the challenge of dealing with cancer and about working together to never give up.

We are not giving up. Not even on the tough days.  Not even on days when we want to give up. We are going to build from the tough days to make us strong the next day.

We’re going to stand strong and support one another. We’re going to find humor, laughter and happiness, even in our darkest moments, because if we do, we are in control.

We choose the positive route.  We stand together united by adversity but bonded by our strength, courage and determination.

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but the capacity to act despite our fears.”

We unite not only for the survivors, but also for the warriors and the fighters; for the families, the caregivers, and the friends who support us; and in memory of those no longer with us.

Together we are stronger, and together we can stand to make a difference.
