For more than fifty years the art of Norman J. Gautreau of Revere, Massachusetts, has given pleasure to thousands. Prints of his paintings hang in numerous households and offices throughout the country, extending even to Italy and Hawaii.
His paintings chronicaling the history of Revere Beach, MA have especially gained widespread popularity for their evocation of a time long past but remembered by many.
His paintings tell a riveting visual story of a man who came of age during the Great Depression, saw the ravages of World War II, suffered a devastating blow to his eyesight yet in all that time he never lost his dream of a better world--a world he captured in his paintings.
Norman Gautreau, also the author of several books, died in 2007 at the age of 90.
