Item Special Note

Hannelore Baron (b. 1926 - d.1987) was a German-born artist who lived and worked for the majority of her life in Bronx, New York. Her work has become known for the highly personal, book-sized, abstract collages and box constructions that she began exhibiting in the late 1960s. Baron considered her work to be both personal and political statements, "everything I’ve done is a statement on the, as they say, human condition." Her works are included in museum collections in Europe, the US and Japan, including; the Solomon  Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the  Los Angeles County Museum of Art and SFMOMA.
