Item Description
Attend a private screening of the HBO documentary The Final Year with a post-screening question and answer period with award-winning documentary filmmaker and Samohi choir dad Greg Barker, on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 7:00 pm. Desserts, coffee and wine will be served. Hosted by Harriet Fraser and Greg Barker at the home of Guido and Nancy Lamell.
The Final Year presents the inner workings of the Obama Administration as it prepares to leave power after eight years, and reveals the human dynamics and emotions at play inside the normally opaque world of US diplomacy, featuring former Secretary of State John Kerry, Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes and Samantha Power, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, as well as National Security Adviser Susan Rice and President Obama himself. The Final Year follows each of these personalities as they travel the world over the course of 2016, attempting to solidify and "lock-in" policies that they believe will define their legacy, promote diplomacy, and fundamentally alter how the U.S. government confronts questions of war and peace – all while preparing to hand over the machinery of American power to a new administration.
Item Special Note
The screening is open to the entire Samohi community – parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends, so spread the word. Space is limited to 40 guests. $30 per person.
