Item Description
This is a signed limited edition print of the firetruck, "Jumbo," a 1911 Model firetruck, Staunton, Virginia's oldest motorized fire apparatus and the only surviving Jumbo in teh United States. The truck was manufactured by Robinson Fire Appartus Company in St. Louis, Missouri and was restored in 1984.
The artist is Craig Peterson. The print is numbered 28/200.
The artist sent a note to IAEM Scholarship staff when contacted about the print and it is excepted below:
"I had collected fire department antiques for some time. I approached Staunton F.D. and told them I would do the painting and give it to them if they wanted to have prints made. S.F.D. had the prints made and paid for them, I signed and numbered them and and gave 190 to S.F.D. and I kept 10 for myself. S.F.D put them up for sale and they sold out very fast. Occasionally someone would ask me about them and one-by-one I finally sold off the 10 I had kept. I believe S.F.D. still has the original.
The artist shows in the Lost River Artist Co-Op in Lost River, West Virginia.
