The Vermont Youth Orchestra welcomes Counterpoint, Vermont’s professional vocal ensemble, as a special guest on our winter concert. Under the direction of Nathaniel Lew, Counterpoint will perform a cappella renditions of spirituals and songs associated with the Civil Rights Movement to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 90th birthday. The orchestra will perform a tribute to MLK by Duke Ellington, and soloist Sebastiaan West will be featured in a performance of the festive opening movement from Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
