Item Description
The highest bidder wins a 6.5 x 9 signed photograph of Lou Boudreau, donated by 10th Inning Baseball Cards in Pinole. Born in July 1917, Lou Boudreau was an exceptional all-around fielding shortstop with a keen eye and ability at the plate. Lou played 15 seasons with the Cleveland Indians (1938-1950) and the Boston Red Sox (1951-1952). He was selected to play in eight All-Star games, was the 1944 American League batting champion and was awarded the 1948 American League Most Valuable Player award. Lou Boudreau finished his career with a .295 batting average with 1,779 hits and 789 RBI.
Lou Boudreau was made player/manager of the Indians in 1942 and held that position until he signed with the Red Sox in 1951. Boudreau managed the Indians to the 1948 World Series title and compiled a 728-649 record with the Indians, Red Sox, Kansas City Athletics and Chicago Cubs in 16 years at the helm. Louis Boudreau was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1970.
