Item Description

This lot is a treasure trove for the CD-era memorabilia collector. It includes 6 booklets published by state and local governments to help educate the public.

  • How America's 3rd Larest City Was Aroused to Speed Its Emergency Preparedness was printed by the US Government Printing Office in 1961. The 8.5"x11" brochure contains reprints of several articles from the Los Angeles Times.
  • Pennsylvania's Health:Medical Civil Defense, August 1955 was published by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Health. This 32-page booklet reviews PA public health service responsibilities in Civil Defense that were delegated to the service by the Federal Civil Defense Administration.
  • Personnel Protecton as a Responsibility of Management is not dated and was released by Los Angeles County Civil Service Commission.
  • Your Civil Defense in Maryland is a tri-fold brochure is not dated but contains a message from Gov. J. Millard Tawes (1959-1967).
  • It's Your Life...The San Francisco Plan was released by San Francisco Disaster Council and Corps. It is 33 pages and is from the late 1950s.
  • State Council of Civil Defense Manual of Basic Training: Auxiliary Policy Manual No. 1 was released in 1952 by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It has 66 pages.

Winning bidders may pick up items at the IAEM Silent Auction booth on Oct. 24 between 1:00-2:30 p.m. Items not picked up or items won by bidders not attending the conference will be shipped following the conference. Shipping charges are the responsibility of the winning bidder. The shipping charge will be added after the auction is completed and the destination is determined. Items will be combined into one shipment for winning bidders of multiple items to save on shipping costs.
