You will find it hard to resist this beautiful bowl. It has dark lustrous glaze on carved slip decoration. This is functional stoneware created with native clay dug from the banks of Vermont Rivers.
This piece measures 8 3/4" in diameter and is 3 3/4" high.
Mayforth has been throwing pottery since 1976. She is a native Vermonter and teaches classes in the Bristol Clay Studio. She engages with her work with the clarity that comes from her study and practice with the Tetzkatlipoka tradition of Aztec healing.
Of her work, she says:
I work hard to create forms that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. I believe that a good pot wants to be held! My stoneware pots are glazed with Vermont river clay.
