Item Description
This vintage quilt is over 50 years old and was hand-made by the donor's Great Aunt Nellie. Nellie lived on the banks of the Mississippi River in Illinois. She was likely born around 1900-1906. She was engaged to a wonderful fellow who unfortunately died in World War I. Nellie remained single her whole life. She was one the finest seamstresses in the area. She quilted, sewed and did amazing crochet pieces as well. Nellie made this quilt for our donor. This cross-stitched quilt has never been used and is in like-new condition. It has been stored in a cedar chest. The quilt is white with deep yellow stitching and it is twin-sized. It measures 66 x 93 inches. Each stitch is absolutely perfect, the cotton is soft and snuggly and the yellow design stitches are vibrant. Nellie had breast cancer and our donor feels that this is the best "circle of life" for the quilt to end up as one of the items for our auction.
