Item Description
A native of Kingston, New York, Carol Kohan (CGP '76) developed a deep appreciation for the history and natural beauty of the Hudson Valley and Caskill Mountains and a particular fascination for the 19th Century Hudson River School of Art. After a 38-year career with the National Park Service in curatorial, interpretation, and upper management positions in the East and Midwest, Carol retired as Deputy Superintendent of the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites in Hyde Park. Post-retirement, Carol served to terms as the Town of Hyde Park Historian while pursuing watercolor painting and other creative endeavors.
Carol had studied watercolors with Betsy Jacaruso since 2013 and also studies with Keith Gunderson. She has attended workshops with other noted artists including Ann Lindsay, Evelyn Dunphy, Jeanne Carbonetti, and Andrew Lattimore. Her work has been displayed at a number of art exhibitions and she is a member of the Cross River Fine Art Guild.
This work, titled "Olana Sunset," is an unframed 8 x 10 watercolor in an acid free 11 x 14 mat.
