Joseph O'Neill is the author of the novels The Dog, which was a New York Times Notable Book and longlisted for the Man Booker Prize, Netherland, which won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction and the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award, The Breezes, and This Is the Life. He has also written a family history, Blood-Dark Track, which was a New York Times Notable Book.
His short stories were published in the New Yorker and Harper's. His nonfiction has been published in Atlantic Monthly, New York, and Granta. In 2010 he received a Guggenheim Fellowship and in 2012, a NEA Creative Writing Fellowship. He lives in New York City and has taught at Bard College since 2011.
