Item Description
Coach Alex Boutov invites you to an advanced technique improvement session - Natatometry™
A “Before” video at the deep end of the pool. It takes about 5 minutes and can be done at the end of practice. Two to four swimmers can go through the initial videotaping during the same 5 - minute interval.
Review of the processed video with velocity graphs, discussion of the technique, goal setting, explanation of the drills - 10 minutes in front of a computer. This section can be done after video is processed and data is thoroughly analyzed. Coach Alex will email a report of the analysis to the swimmer prior to this section. Familiarity with this report is not required, but is encouraged in order to save time for in-water drills and practice sets.
In-water drills and practice sets 15 minutes ( see an example below).
Item Special Note
Natatometry™ is a method of stroke improvement, which we base on a well established and researched fact that swimming velocity changes within each stroke cycle. Its variation is typically 50% or more, depending on the stroke and the individual abilities of the swimmer. The best swimmers distribute their velocities precisely and with great efficiency. To discover potential in your swimming technique, we overlay velocity distribution graph over underwater video of your stroke. Analysis of the videos of your stroke synchronized with your instantaneous velocity graph will allow experienced coaches to identify specific ways to improve your stroke.
