Item Description
This painting on bark cloth is signed by the artist and measures 12 by 21.5 inches. It depicts a woman dancing wearing a traditional grass skirt. Ready for framing.
Bark cloth is made from the mutuba tree in Uganda, a kind of ficus. According to UNESCO, the process for making it predates the invention of weaving. In 2005, UNESCO proclaimed Ugandan bark cloth manufacturing part of the world's "intangible cultural heritage". Historically clothing for chiefs was made from bark cloth in the Buganda Kingdom.
